Traveling to Disney with an infant

Traveling with an infant can be hard, especially when it is to the happiest place on earth. Crowds, heat, feedings and many hours in the park can wear out a small child quickly. Here is some of my experiences and tips for traveling.

Starting in the airport, airlines allow you to bring a stroller with you for free. Bringing your favorite stroller from home makes travel, navigating the resorts, and enjoying the parks easier. Your child knows the stroller well and you are used to it also.

The biggest life saver you will ever find at any Disney park are the baby care centers. These are a great item that Disney has added to help families with small children. They offer changing tables, quiet areas, snacks and other items you may need to make your child happy and comfortable. The best part is that using them is completely free to do while in the parks, granted the supplies are not free but are a reasonable cost.

Each park has a baby care center. These can be located on your My Disney Experience apps.

Here are some great tips to help make the day easier:

Here is a guide for parents with infants at Disney World:

  • Plan ahead. Make sure you have everything you need for your infant, including diapers, wipes, formula, food, and snacks. You may also want to bring a stroller, carrier, or baby carrier.

  • Take breaks. Don't try to do too much in one day. Take breaks to rest and nurse or bottle feed your baby.

  • Stay hydrated. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids, especially water. You may also want to bring a water bottle for your baby.

  • Wear comfortable shoes. You'll be doing a lot of walking, so wear shoes that are comfortable for you.

  • Take advantage of the Baby Care Centers. Each park has a Baby Care Center where you can change diapers, nurse, and feed your baby. There are also play areas for infants and toddlers.

  • Take advantage of the Rider Switch program. If you have an older child who wants to ride a ride that's not appropriate for infants, you can use the Rider Switch program. One parent waits with the infant while the other parent rides the ride. Then, they switch places without having to wait in line again.

  • Have fun! Disney World is a magical place for all ages, including infants. Relax and enjoy your time together.
